This is a quick summary of how to get your computer set up for our next Zoom meeting. If you're not a "tech savvy" person and have questions, please feel free to contact Chad with any questions:

Things you'll need:
*If you are using Zoom on a phone*
While the instructions below are for using Zoom on your computer, they will generally work the same for use on a phone. The layout will be somewhat different due to the difference in size of screens. Typically, we find it better to use Zoom from a computer if available to you. If this is not an option, the Zoom app is available for download, for free, from any app store.

Getting started
Go to https://zoom.us/ and sign up (for free) and download the desktop app. Once installed, open the app and the screen should get a menu that looks similar to this:
Here, you can play around with the menu items and get familiar with the interface. Most of this you won't use for our meeting, but taking a few minutes to look around may help. If you'd like to "practice" before the meeting to get comfortable with the interface you can contact me (info above) and we can set up a quick meeting for you to see the app in action.
NOTE We highly suggest you do not wait until the day of the meeting to do this. If you run into any issues, we want to have adequate time to help you resolve the problem. On the day of the meeting we may not be able to do that. |
If you click one of the "start" buttons you'll get 2 screens like this:
When you hover over the main screen, you'll see this menu bar (picture below). If you have a mic we ask that you initially mute it to help eliminate background noise during the meeting. Also, if you don't see the chat window on start up, you can click the chat icon to open that window. The rest of the menu options will most likely not be used.
If you have a question during the meeting, please type in the chat box and we will relay it to the person speaking. You can select from the drop down menu who you want the text to go to. Otherwise, it will go to the general chat and look like this:
How to join our meeting
You will be receiving an email 30 - 60 minutes before the start time of the meeting. If you have set up your Zoom account correctly, you will be taken into the meeting automatically by clicking the link in the email. You may see a few prompts pop up before entering the meeting. These will likely be asking you to choose a name you'd liked to go by during the meeting and to verify some audio / camera settings, but shouldn't cause any issues; especially if you've already set up you Zoom app before hand.
NOTE:
When entering a name to be used during the meeting, please use a name that we are familiar with that will identify easily; especially if you are not using a web cam.

This is obviously not a complete lists of options / issues you may run into. Again, please explore the app soon and feel free to contact Chad anytime between 9a - 6p (cst) with any questions (contact at top of page).
